"Changing Workers' Hours and Shifts Can Be Costly"

Here is a recent article about a company who changed non-exempt hours/shifts and ended up in an expensive litigation. Beware when you are changing hours and shifts of non-exempt employees. Even when the employees are making the request. There are specific overtime and wage implications. Even what seems to make sense to you as an employer may not hold true in the wage and hour laws. Make sure you understand the wage laws as this can be costly both in back-pay and litigation. http://hr.blr.com/HR-news/Compensation/Wage-and-Hour-Investigations/Employers-Change-to-12-Hour-Shifts-Results-in-OT-V/
