"Reclassifying Sales Positions"

I work for a company that has been going through major changes over the past 3 months. About 2 months ago, they classified my position from exempt to non-exempt and said I had to start tracking my hours. Because the sales team works some odd hours, my company calculated an estimated back pay through a third-party and promised us those checks. After having tracked my time, they are now moving us back to exempt employees and not paying us our due for working overtime... my question is why are we not due our checks from when we were designated non-exempt?
